Advice for models in My Style Coaching and for FU Models
Fittings
Remember that fittings are also part of your job where you’re representing yourself but also Fashion Unit and other models – remember polite behaviour and be enthusiastic about the job and outfits etc.
Even though the outfits, makeup or hairstyle wouldn’t be your style, keep your opinions to yourself and focus on showing the chosen style in a best possible way. Models’ job is to be “a hanger” for client’s products!
- Think different ways to showcase your outfits.
- If you have multiple outfits, mark the order on the entry list to make it clearer for you.
Makeup and hair for the show
- Be bare faced when going to a makeup artist, moisturize your face.
- Have clean and dry hair when going to a hair stylist.
- If you notice that your face starts to shine, you can press gently the oil away with paper.
-
To make sure that makeup can be seen from the stage, it will be remarkably stronger
than normal makeup. - Also your hairstyle is often big and pretentious.
Embrace your new look and showcase it with confidence!
Before the show
- Self-tanners might leave stains on clothes, be careful if you’re using any.
- Shower before the show.
- Clean nails and eyebrows.
- A good haircut and colour will make hairstylist’s job easier.
- Have safety pins, tape, scissors etc. with you.
- Show days are often long so make sure you have enough snacks and drinks with you.
During the show
- Put your clothes together in right outfit order, it will be a lot quicker for you to change your outfits.
- If possible, wear some clothes underneath the other clothes. That way, when you take off one outfit you already have something on for your next outfit.
- Keep your fitting scarf on your face when changing the outfits.
- Stay calm during changes, you’ll be a lot quicker that way.
- Tape hats and shoe soles to keep them in same condition as before.
- Change to your show outfits right before the show.
- When you are wearing your outfits don't do following things:
- don't smoke
- don't use the toilet
- don't wash your hands
- don't apply any makeup
- don't fix your hair (hairspray may leave stains and clothes may catch the smell).
- When you're leaving the stage, don't run to the backstage.
- When you are on the stage, remember that there are photographers taking pictures of you.
